Nearest Railway Station:

  •  Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) – ~100 km from Shillong. Around 3 hours by road. Well-connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, etc.

Note: Meghalaya does not have a functional broad-gauge railway line yet; Guwahati remains the gateway.

Nearest Airport:

  • Shillong Airport (Umroi Airport) – ~30 km from Shillong city. Limited connectivity (mainly from Kolkata or Guwahati).Short direct flights, especially for regional travelers.
  • Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (GAU) – ~120 km from Shillong (~3 hours by road). Excellent connectivity to all major Indian cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, etc.). Most preferred and convenient for domestic & international travelers.
