Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Guwahati – Transfer to Shillong
- Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station.
- Drive to Shillong (approx. 3.5–4 hours).
- En route visit Umiam Lake (also known as Barapani) – serene and misty during monsoon.
- Check in to hotel and relax.
- Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong – Laitlum – Cherrapunjee
- Morning drive to the breathtaking Laitlum Canyons – often covered in clouds and fog during monsoon.
- Head to Cherrapunjee, known for its lush landscapes and high rainfall.
- En route, stop at Elephant Falls.
- Visit Mawkdok Valley, Nohkalikai Falls, and Mawsmai Caves.
- Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
Day 3: Cherrapunjee – Waterfall Trail – Return to Shillong
- Explore monsoon-fed waterfalls: Wei Sawdong, Dainthlen Falls (if roads are safe).
- Return to Shillong by afternoon.
- Free time to explore Police Bazaar or enjoy a warm meal at a local café.
- Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 4: Shillong – Departure to Guwahati
- After breakfast, return to Guwahati.
- Optional: Stop at Kamakhya Temple (subject to time).
